Clothing collection by a member of the Eurasian Association of Regional Women Leaders was presented at VDNH (Exhibition of National Economy Achievements)

On June 12, 2024 in Moscow the festival “Fashion of the Russian North” took
place. The unique event united the Russian North and showed the beauty and
diversity of fashion and culture of the three regions. Designers from the Yamalo-
Nenets Autonomous District and the Komi Republic, in addition to Elena Skakun,
a member of the Eurasian Association of Women Regional Leaders, demonstrated
their collections. The festival revealed to the audience the breadth and beauty of
our vast homeland.
The collection of costumes was based on the legend of Khanty warrior “Tonya,” a
capsule of creativity of Ugra artist G. Raishev and Russian illustrator I. Bilibin
“Kalinka” was presented.
Traditional and stage costumes, as well as novelties, modern fashion trends created
by talented designers and craftswomen of the Arctic regions were demonstrated on
the catwalk. The stage also featured the voices of talented artists. The rhythms of
the regions united in a single symphony of love for the Motherland, leaving an
unforgettable trace in the souls of the listeners.
The main idea of the ethnic show is not only to show the beauty and diversity of
the Arctic culture, but also to make the North a little closer. Elena Skakun's works
are presented at the exhibition-forum “Russia” not for the first time. Earlier, pop
stars performed in the immersive show “Magic of the Region: A Journey through
Ugra” wearing costumes made by Ugra designer Elena Skakun. The clothing
capsule was shown in the theater, at the circus ice show “Ugra Tales on Ice,” at the
festival “Cup of Special Alloy.”
