Elena Zhidkova presented a pilot project on genome sequencing at SPIEF-2021

On June 3, within the framework of the business program of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the session “Healthcare of the Future. Genetic technologies and personalized medicine as a driver of the industry development ”. The session participants talked about the importance of disease prevention. Genetic technologies will play a key role in this paradigm shift. During the session Elena Zhidkova, Head of the Central Directorate of Healthcare - a branch of Russian Railways, a member of the Organizing Committee of the Third Eurasian Women's Forum, presented a pilot study that was carried out by the company. The pilot's staff members were deciphered the genome in order to see the genetic predisposition to diseases and to build personalized medical care. According to Elena Zhidkova, 2% of the study participants showed a predisposition to cancer, and almost 90% to diseases of the cardiovascular system. Following the results of the pilot project, drug insurance was included in the VHI system in the company. The pilot project will also be presented during the third Eurasian Women's Forum. Promising directions for the development of the health care system, including methods of DNA sequencing, will be central to discussion at the session of the third Eurasian Women's Forum "Women's Mission: Together for a Healthy Present and Future".
