Irina Makieva took part in BRICS Urbanization Forum

This year the traditional BRICS Urbanization Forum was held online as part of the Russian Federation's presidency. The meeting was dedicated to the discussion of a wide range of urban development issues and brought together top-ranked Russian and international experts, representatives of state and regional authorities, development institutions and specialised organisations.
Irina Makieva, Deputy Chairperson of VEB.RF, Director General of Monotowns Fund, Russia, the Member of the Association of Women-Leaders took an active part in the Forum. The expert presented ongoing projects of VEB.RF and Monotowns Fund and also told about the tools of financial and, in particular, non-financial support which could be provided by the development institutions.
Irina Makieva noted that improvement of the residents’ life quality requires the efforts integration of different countries and the development of an international library with a collection of the best practices in city development. It will give the opportunity to adopt advanced practices in urban development.
'Improvement of the quality of life in cities - is a vital issue in the agenda of the majority of countries. Comfortable environment, clean water, modern transport - this aspects have a great impact on the willingness of residents to stay in the area they are currently living in. Year by year, each country makes all efforts to increase the comfort level in cities. It is crucial to integrate and replicate all the unique experience in this sphere. Establishment of international library of the best practices in cities development would provide great support', Irina Makieva noted during her speech.
