Eurasian Women's Forum wants to discuss the role of women in cinema

Vice Speaker of the Federation Council Galina Karelova and Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova discussed possible topics for discussion at the International Women's Forum, the press service of the Federation Council reported on June 9. In particular, the site plans to pay attention to the development of creative industries and the role of women in cinema. The forum will be held in St. Petersburg on October 13-15 this year. Galina Karelova said that the forum will be held in person, but they will also use such formats as teleconferences and online connections in order to reach the maximum audience and attract it to the work of the sites. “We appreciate the opportunity of live communication,” noted Olga Lyubimova. According to her, such large-scale events as the Eurasian Women's Forum allow discussing current topics and sharing experience in solving various problems. The business program will consist of plenary sessions, discussion platforms, exhibitions and interactive events, where the achievements of Russian women in science and technology will be presented. International organizations and associations are planning to participate in the expert sessions, including the Women's Twenty, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the World Bank, and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation. At the meeting, they discussed the topics to which the discussions will be devoted, and proposed to touch upon the development of the creative industries and the role of women in cinema. We also discussed the cultural program. It is important that it include exhibitions that will tell about achievements in the field of culture, and a concert program with the participation of outstanding artists, Galina Karelova believes. “And in this matter we need support from the Russian Ministry of Culture,” she said. According to Olga Lyubimova, it is important that the leading cultural organizations of St. Petersburg take part, too. Earlier, Galina Karelova said that within the framework of the forum, 22 projects are being implemented in the areas of economic development, creative industry, the agricultural sector, digital technologies, and so on. Issues of expanding the presence of women in high-tech industries will also be discussed on the sidelines of the forum. According to the vice-speaker of the Federation Council, for the first time an international working group of the Nuclear Energy Agency of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development is going to participate in the forum to improve the gender balance in the nuclear sphere.
