The inclusion of women in the digital economy was discussed in the framework of the APEC Political Partnership "Women and the Economy"

On May 26, 2021, the APEC Forum Dialogue was held, organized within the framework of the APEC Political Partnership "Women and the Economy". Deputy Director of the Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia N.N. Srigunova and Deputy General Director of ANO DPO "Ericsson Training Center" I.B. Saltykov. The purpose of the dialogue was to develop practical recommendations and proposals for the economies of the forum to support women in the development of digital and financial inclusion during the COVID-19 pandemic. I.B. Saltykova presented the Russian experience in supporting women. Projects and initiatives in the field of digital literacy, popularization of professions in STEM, as well as leadership in the digital economy, carried out through the Council of the Eurasian Women's Forum and as part of the implementation of the National Action Strategy for Women, aroused an interested response fr om the discussion participants. The work of the dialogue continued within the framework of individual working groups. Following a discussion with the participation of representatives from Russia, Brunei, Chile and New Zealand, recommendations were developed for the APEC economies. Thus, economies were asked to consider the possibility of providing subsidies for Internet access to low-income households; organize free courses on the development of digital skills and knowledge for target groups of women; hold IT days to promote technical professions among women. To implement such programs, it is advisable to actively develop partnerships with the private sector. The Russian side proposed to exchange best government and business practices in the use of digital products and technologies to alleviate the burden of care work (paid and unpaid, domestic), the volume of which has greatly increased for women during the pandemic. Cooperation within the framework of APEC will continue at the third Eurasian Women's Forum, wh ere it is planned to hold a meeting of the Club of Winners and Participants of the APEC BEST AWARD International Competition for Women's Entrepreneurial Projects in APEC.
