The activities of the Competence Center are aimed at the integrated development of the end-to-end technology "Artificial Intelligence" and its application in various sectors of the real sector of the economy. The main tasks of the Center are grouped around seven key areas that determine the content of the "Artificial Intelligence" technology: Software and hardware for strong machine intelligence; Conversational artificial intelligence; Speech recognition and synthesis; Expert, recommendation, information and analytical systems, design and management automation; Technical vision, detection, recognition, decoding, classification of images; Artificial intelligence technologies in robotics, smart machines; Artificial intelligence technologies in energy, communications, urban economy and other industries, “smart home”, “smart city”, “smart” grids and systems. Overcoming technological barriers For a number of R&D projects implemented by the Center, technological barriers have been overcome and world-class results have been achieved: In 2019, the work of the first Russian specialized neural network coprocessor for energy-efficient execution of machine learning algorithms was demonstrated. At the MIPT laboratories, the main elements were developed: processor cores, interfaces and basic software. Later, a prototype of an integrated embedded ferroelectric memory was created, which became one of the first in the world and is successfully used in neurocomputing devices. Overcoming technological barriers associated with the low accuracy of image recognition by neural networks trained on critically small samples, as well as with the low efficiency of neural network models that improve the accuracy of image recognition, occurred during the implementation of a project to create a vision system for unmanned vehicles. It is based on a neural network that is able to independently search and analyze the necessary templates for training, which allows you to efficiently process much larger amounts of data at a lower cost of time. Significant research results The project for the development of mobile autonomous systems for operational monitoring for various purposes using artificial intelligence technologies for processing and interpreting data and supporting decision-making in real time has a high scientific and market potential. This solution is currently unique for Russia and has great prospects for promotion abroad. First of all, the complex will find application in the field of security (monitoring of fires and search and rescue operations), in geological exploration, in the field of forestry and agriculture, monitoring of the ecological situation, etc. Also innovative for Russia is the development of tools for optimizing the railway infrastructure and automated control of the train situation in real time. The operational decision support system created by the Center using artificial intelligence algorithms is capable of simulating, predicting and dynamically planning the optimal train schedule. The solution is based on the use of a domestic hardware platform and has a modular layout that allows integration with various systems. One of the leading areas of the Center's work is related to the development of new architectures of strong artificial intelligence - the key technology of the future mass world robotics market. On the basis of the Center, a new generation operating system is being developed, which endows robots with the ability to self-learn complex expedient behavior with a large planning horizon, which is not yet available for modern robots with programmable behavior. The results obtained will form the basis for new approaches to the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases and understanding the principles of the functioning of human cognitive abilities. Creation of important infrastructure facilities A specialized computing hardware and software complex of the Center was put into operation (240 TFlops GPU, 44 TFlops CPU); An open laboratory for circle work was created (https://aimipt.com/); Seven collections of the almanac "Artificial Intelligence" (https://aireport.ru/) have been released. Implementation and commercialization of the results of the Center's activities The results of several research projects have passed the stage of commercialization and entered the Russian and international markets. The project to create conversational artificial intelligence NeuroIntellect iPavlov has overcome the technological barrier in the field of machine intelligence algorithms and, based on an open source platform, is used today to build dialogue systems by users in Russia and abroad. A number of solutions based on the DeepPavlov platform were implemented in the products of the industrial partner of the project - Sberbank, more than 30 companies helped to automate the development communication processes in retail, marketing, banking and other areas. Another project that has been successfully implemented and has reached the stage of a finished market product is a project to create assistive devices and technical means of rehabilitation with the use of neurotechnologies for people with disabilities - "RoboCom". The complex is intended for people with motor dysfunctions caused by the consequences of brain and spinal cord injuries, stroke. RoboCom has a modular architecture, personalized for a specific user, and performs the functions of gripping, holding and moving objects. The control system is based on tracking the tracking of the user's eyes; it is also possible to connect a neuro-headset to read control impulses. The customers of the RoboCom complex are medical institutions, rehabilitation and geriatric centers. On the basis of the multi-agent platform for intelligent trading of autonomous energy systems developed by the Center, a prototype of a hybrid energy complex was manufactured, which at the end of 2020 was put into trial operation in the village of Laborovaya (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug). The implemented approach with decentralized intelligent control of the power system allows to reduce the cost of electricity by more than 15%, reduce capital costs and payback periods for investors, and offer the market profitable projects with renewable energy sources, compared to traditional centralized control systems (SCADA). Based on the results of the trial operation, a decision will be made to refine and replicate this approach in the region and beyond. Creation and licensing of RIAs The number of intellectual property objects created during the work of the Center: more than 20 RID. Number of concluded license agreements for created RIAs: 12 agreements. The income received under the license agreements of the Center amounted to more than 3.5 million rubles. Another important area of ​​the Center's work is the development of the regulatory framework in the field of artificial intelligence. The Center makes a significant contribution to the formation of the national agenda in the field of international regulation of AI, and also took a direct part in the development of the Concept for the development of regulation of relations in the field of artificial intelligence and robotics technologies until 2024, approved by the Government of the Russian Federation in August 2020.
