The governor of Ugra, Natalia Komarova, announced her resignation

On May 30, 2024, Natalia Vladimirovna Komarova announced her resignation from the post of Governor of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Ugra.

For 14 years Natalia Komarova has been working for the benefit of the residents of the region. The Autonomous Okrug has achieved high performance among many different fields, including 1st place in oil production, 1st place among Russian regions in electricity generation, 1st place among Russian regions in implementing support mechanisms for socially oriented non-profit organizations.  

Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Ugra is the first region to adopt a law on the development of creative industries. The first region to implement the principles of the Presidential Grants Fund approach. Since 2019, 1,598 projects have been supported by the Autonomous Okrug.  

The Autonomous Okrug is among the top 5 regions of Russia in terms of quality of life with a stable population growth of 14.6%.  

The region ranks 3rd among the regions of Russia in terms of the quality of medical services. More than 99.99% of the population have access to high-speed Internet and the newly-developed neural network "Vika." Since 2018, unique projects such as "IT-Camp" and "Green IT-camp" have been implemented with the use of alternative energy sources – solar panels and storage batteries.  

Since 2018, Natalia Vladimirovna has been the coordinator of the International Club "Eurasian Association of Women Regional Leaders," a project of the Council of the Eurasian Women's Forum under the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. Three hundred and twenty-four participants from 41 countries of the world and 28 regions of Russia have united, more than 215 projects have been implemented in all fields of life.  

The Junior EWF youth platform was organized, young participants presented projects for the development of the northern territories, social projects using digital solutions. Since 2021, the Eurasian Association of Women Regional Leaders Public Diplomacy Foundation has been cooperating with women's public organizations in the regions of Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and China. Projects have been implemented to develop women's leadership, and proposals have been made to the Action Plan of the National Strategy of Action for Women for 2023-2030. In 2022, the second regional stream of the educational program "Woman Leader" of the presidential platform "Russia - the Land of Opportunities" was held on the territory of the Khanty–Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Ugra. 178 participants joined efforts in Ugra to develop socially significant projects.  

The Eurasian Association of Women Regional Leaders expresses its deep gratitude to Natalia Vladimirovna Komarova for her long-term and fruitful work. Being the only female governor of Russia, Natalia Vladimirovna provided comprehensive support to all spheres of life in the region, promoted an open dialogue between government and society, paid attention to the socio-economic development of the autonomous okrug and civil society institutions.

From the first day in Ugra, I knew that it was my home and safe space. This confidence is in each one of you. I believe that your faith in me has helped to ensure our region becoming one of the best in Russia. Ugra residents work at home, on the restoration of new territories with the same dedication as our countrymen on the front line. Ugra, you are always in my heart," Natalia Komarova finalized in a video message.
