The participants of the Eurasian Association of Women Regional Leaders presented to the international community the best practices for the development of the world's indigenous peoples

On April 23, 2024, in Khanty-Mansiysk, during the V All-Russian Forum of National Unity under the auspices of the International Organization of Northern Regions "Northern Forum,” an international teleconference "Traditional Knowledge: acquisition, transfer and protection" was held, during which participants exchanged practices for preserving the culture and way of life of indigenous peoples.      

The teleconference was attended by representatives of the indigenous peoples of the North, the Association of Finno-Ugric Peoples of the Russian Federation, the International Organization of the Northern Regions "Northern Forum,” the state television and radio company "Mordovia,” heads of public organizations for the preservation and development of the culture of the indigenous peoples of the North, representatives of the international community fr om Mexico, Indonesia, Romania, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Moldova, Syria, Egypt, representatives of the Russian Center for Science and Culture "Russian House" in Budapest, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.  

Tatyana Dyatlova, member of the Presidium of the Association of Finno-Ugric Peoples of Russia, Candidate of Economic Sciences, head of the Finno-Ugric department of Ugra State University, member of the Eurasian Association of Women Regional Leaders, said that the experience of Ugra in supporting the indigenous peoples of the North interested United Nations experts. From April 15 to 21, 2024, Tatyana Alexandrovna took part in the 23rd session of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues in New York as part of the Russian delegation, presented projects on the development of a green economy in places wh ere indigenous peoples live, the projects "IT-Camp,” "Camp School-garden.”

The speaker noted: "The experience of Ugra is of interest to international experts. Russia and Ugra are open for cooperation on social and cultural projects."   

Natalia Makovetskaya, editor-in-chief of the National State Television and Broadcasting Company “Yugoria,” and Nadezhda Moldanova, head of the Ugra Union of Masters, shared their experience in researching the art of the Northern peoples, popularizing the culture of indigenous peoples and preserving its identity.   

Lyudmila Alferova, President of the public organization "Saving Ugra,” shared her experience of working on the IT-camp project and noted that this year the public organization "Saving Ugra" turns 35 years old. "I would like to take this opportunity to note the growth of public consciousness, when the creative intelligentsia pays special attention to the preservation of culture and languages of indigenous peoples and shares knowledge with young people."   

Ugra's experience in implementing projects to preserve the traditional way of life of indigenous peoples was highly appreciated by experts from foreign countries. They expressed a desire to continue cooperation with the district outside the forum site.   

Representatives of the international community presented their practices for the preservation of the linguistic environment and the work of original indigenous authors. The invited experts shared their own experience of existing cooperation with Ugra and noted that the Ugra practices presented during the teleconference can be scaled both in Russia and abroad.       

Sabirov Kabuljon, Director of the SCO Center for People's Diplomacy in Uzbekistan, noted the value of the established relation with the Autonomous Okrug, proposed new prospects for cooperation with the Eurasian Association of Women Regional Leaders Public Diplomacy Foundation, with which a cooperation agreement was signed in April 2022.         

People's Diplomat from Armenia Vahan Sahakyan hosted the Ugra delegation in Yerevan during a cultural and educational mission, and agreements were reached on cooperation at the site of the international project "North for Victory. Everyone is for the cause of peace." The initiator of the project "North for Victory. Everyone for the cause of Peace" is the Goodwill Ambassador of the International Organization of the Northern Regions "Northern Forum,” a member of the Eurasian Association of Women Regional Leaders Vera Kondratieva.         

The youth community of Ugra State University took part in the teleconference. In her address to the youth, Natalia Zabolotskikh, Director General of the Eurasian Center for Project Initiatives, Director General of Sirius Consulting LLC, coordinator of the international competition "Leader of People's Diplomacy,” author of the International Research Project "The Female Face of Public Diplomacy: from Motive to Action,” a political scientist, noted:       

"It is the tool of "soft power" that brings our meanings to the external contours and helps to look for interesting creators. The important task of public diplomats is to preserve the language and traditions, share knowledge and show it to the world so that the world makes the right choice during the period of self-determination. I am speaking on behalf of the coordinator of the international competition "Leader of People's Diplomacy.” The knowledge-based dialogue that took place on the site will allow us to unite even though we all come from different parts of the world."
